Molly: A polis is a city state in Ancient Greece.
Democracy The government in Greece changed over time.They went from a monarchy, to an oligarchy, to a democracy.A democracy is when the people are in charge of the government.
Angie: This is Angie. Faith: And this is Faith. We will be talking about Ancient Athenian democracy. Who was allowed to be a citizen of Athens? Angie: Well, only men that were born in Athens that weren’t slaves or servants could be citizens. No females or kids could be citizens. Faith: Well I am glad that I wasn’t born living in Ancient Greece. Here both males and females could be citizens. Even though nobody under the age of 18 can be a citizen these days. Angie: Well you’ve only got a few years wait. Faith: Fine. I can wait a little bit I guess.
Sarah: Hi this is Sarah
Angie: And Angie.
Sarah: And we’ll be talking about the Persian War. I bet you I know more about the Persian war than you do.
Angie: I doubt it.
Sarah: Let’s have a contest to see who knows more about the war. You first.
Angie: Fine. It all started when the Persians invaded Athens because they wanted to the Greeks a lesson for revolting against them.
Sarah: Then the Greeks defeated Persia. But they weren’t done yet, a few years later they went at it again.
Angie: But, this time most of the city states of Greece helped the Athenians. The Persians eventually lost again.
Sarah: But at the time Athens had one of the most feared Navies in Athens.
Angie: That is also the reason Athens became very rich because all the polis’ in Greece paid them to be their bodyguards.
Sarah: Well I guess I won.
Angie: No I won.
Angie and Sarah: Keep arguing. Cayleigh and Faith take over.
Cayleigh: Acropolis of Athens: This Acropolis rose above the city-state of Athens full with the true artistic and cultural achievements. The area around the Acropolis was hosted for many events including theater, ritual acts ,and sacrificing. Faith:Parthenon (Temple built for the goddess Athena): The Parthenon sat on the highest point of the acropolis and was the biggest Achievement of the Acropolis. It also held several temples to the statue of the goddess of Athena. Cayleigh:Agora (Marketplace, meeting area, and the heart of the city):The agora is a busy place full of market it’s the place where everyone meets, The Heart of the city. It is also where a lot of buildings and places to eat , basically activities. Cayleigh:Well that was then end of Athens lets see whats going on with Sparta They’re fierce like Tigers..Rawr
